Ye’s July 4 Concert Faces Cancellation Call From San Antonio Mayor
San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones is urging officials to cancel Kanye West’s scheduled Fourth of July concert at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Ye announced the show last week, and tickets are currently being sold through Ticketmaster. Prices range from $127.50 for a standard upper-level seat to $1,461.25 for the “YE – Front Row Experience,” which includes a first-row lower-level seat closest to the stadium floor.
Ortiz Jones Cites Hate Speech and Antisemitic Remarks
On Saturday night, June 20, Ortiz Jones, a Democrat and U.S. Air Force veteran, publicly stated that she supports canceling the concert.
She pointed to Ye’s history of hate speech and antisemitic comments as the reason she believes the city-funded Alamodome should not host the event. The venue can hold more than 70,000 people for an in-the-round concert setup similar to Ye’s globe-shaped stage design.
Ortiz Jones said “Military City USA” should not provide a public facility to someone with a record of antisemitic remarks and hateful rhetoric, especially on July 4, which marks the nation’s 250th birthday.
She also said opposing antisemitism is part of the work required to build a stronger and more united country.
Ye’s Summer Concert Schedule
Ye’s San Antonio show is currently scheduled between performances in Tampa, Florida, on June 26 and June 28, and Tirana, Albania, on July 11.
His summer mini tour is also set to include Madrid, Spain, on July 30, Algarve, Portugal, on August 7, and two homecoming concerts in Chicago, Illinois, on September 3 and 4.
Although Ye has performed in several cities this year, he has not launched an official full-scale tour during this decade.
Some Ye Concerts Have Been Canceled Internationally
Ye has successfully staged shows this year in Mexico City, Los Angeles, Turkey, the Netherlands, and Georgia.
However, other scheduled appearances have reportedly been canceled in England, Poland, and France, reflecting the ongoing controversy surrounding his public statements.
Rick Scott Also Opposed Ye’s Tampa Shows
The San Antonio mayor’s comments come after Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Scott of Florida recently called for Ye’s Tampa concerts to be canceled.
In a June 4 statement, Scott criticized Ye’s repeated antisemitic attacks and said they went against the values of the Hillsborough community. He also referenced Ye’s past praise of Nazis, his self-identification with Nazi imagery, and a 2025 Super Bowl ad that directed viewers to merchandise featuring swastikas.
Scott said Ye’s comments were deeply offensive to Florida’s Jewish community and questioned why a taxpayer-supported stadium would host an artist known for promoting hateful rhetoric, especially in a state with one of the country’s largest Jewish populations.
Ye Releases Deluxe Version of Bully
Amid the controversy, Ye released a deluxe edition of his latest album, Bully, on Friday.
The updated version includes revised mixes of the original tracks, along with new songs “OK” featuring Don Toliver and “Mission Control.”
