Lily Seabird Reveals Details of New Album Lightspheres on Their Way

Seabird has announced a new album titled Lightspheres on Their Way, following the release of her 2025 record Trash Mountain. The upcoming project moves away from traditional storytelling and instead focuses more on observations, drawing songs from personal memories, real-life moments, and characters connected to her own experiences.

The first preview from the album arrives in the form of “Election Day,” a new song that introduces the emotional and reflective tone of the collection.

“Election Day” Explores Difficult Choices

According to Seabird, “Election Day” is centered on the pressure of making a decision when both possible paths feel painful and unclear. Although the song was written on election day and naturally connects to the tension of the current political climate, she explains that the track is not directly about voting.

Instead, the song uses election day as a metaphor for moments when confusion, emotional weight, and uncertainty build until a decision can no longer be avoided. The track reflects the feeling of moving through darkness while still searching for some kind of light.

Musical Influences Behind the New Record

Lightspheres on Their Way takes inspiration from a wide range of artists and bands. Seabird draws influence from legendary names such as David BowieJoni Mitchell, and Elvis Presley, along with groups including The Grateful Dead and Ween.

These influences help shape the album’s atmosphere, blending personal reflection with a broader sense of musical exploration.

Recording and Creative Process

Much of Lightspheres on Their Way was written during transitional and unsettled periods in Seabird’s life. The album was recorded and co-produced with her collaborator Garrett Linck.

Seabird and her band recorded the songs over just a few days at the beginning of the year at Linck’s home in rural Maine. That setting helped give the album an intimate and natural feel, capturing the music in a focused burst of creativity.

Speaking about the themes of the album, Seabird says that growing older has brought her a stronger sense of boldness and self-understanding. That personal growth appears to guide the emotional direction of the record.

Meaning Behind “Lightspheres”

The album is built around the idea of “lightspheres,” a concept Seabird describes as something open to many interpretations. A lightsphere could be a physical source of light, such as a star, the sun, a UFO, headlights, or a flashlight shining in the dark.

At the same time, the idea can also represent life itself, including living beings, people, relationships, and emotional connections. This flexible meaning gives the album a broad and poetic foundation.

Seabird UK Tour Dates and Festival Appearance

Before the album arrives, Seabird will return to the UK in August for a series of live shows. Her upcoming run includes a headline performance at The Lexington in London on September 3, as well as an appearance at End of the Road Festival in Dorset.

These shows will give fans a chance to hear material from Lightspheres on Their Way in a live setting.
