Ice Nine Kills Set to Release New Single “Play Dead” Next Week

Ice Nine Kills has begun teasing its upcoming single “Play Dead,” according to Theprp. The gold-certified metalcore band is once again leaning into its horror-driven identity, this time through a collaboration with the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead By Daylight.

The partnership continues the game’s growing connection with heavy music. Dead By Daylight has previously worked with major names such as Iron Maiden, who are set for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and masked metal giants Slipknot.

Dead By Daylight Cosmetics and Pre-Saves

As part of the collaboration, Ice Nine Kills will also bring new in-game cosmetic items to Dead By Daylight beginning June 16. These additions are expected to include themed shirts and costumes connected to the band.

While the single is being teased ahead of its wider release, the song’s music video has already premiered online. The video debuted on June 14 during a special 10th anniversary streaming event for Dead By Daylight and is now available to watch.

Ice Nine Kills is also pointing fans toward a June 26 premiere date for “Part Deux.” The upcoming release is set to feature legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk, adding another notable pop-culture figure to the band’s horror-themed world.

Hawk also helped introduce the premiere of the “Play Dead” music video, further connecting the band’s latest rollout with the gaming and entertainment crossover.

Iron Maiden-Inspired Skin Revealed

During the same livestream, Dead By Daylight also revealed a new skin inspired by Eddie, the iconic mascot of Iron Maiden. The reveal marks another collaboration tied to the long-running relationship between the horror game and heavy metal culture.

About Ice Nine Kills

Ice Nine Kills is an American heavy metal band from Boston, Massachusetts. The group’s sound mixes several styles, but it is most widely recognized as horror-themed metalcore.

The band was originally formed in 2000 by high school friends Spencer Charnas and Jeremy Schwartz under the name Ice Nine. At first, the project leaned toward ska punk before gradually shifting into a metalcore direction around 2010. Today, Spencer Charnas remains the only founding member still in the band.
