Ice Nine Kills Set to Release New Single “Play Dead” Next Week
Ice Nine Kills has begun teasing its upcoming single “Play Dead,” according to Theprp. The gold-certified metalcore band is once again leaning into its horror-driven identity, this time through a collaboration with the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead By Daylight.
The partnership continues the game’s growing connection with heavy music. Dead By Daylight has previously worked with major names such as Iron Maiden, who are set for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and masked metal giants Slipknot.
Dead By Daylight Cosmetics and Pre-Saves
As part of the collaboration, Ice Nine Kills will also bring new in-game cosmetic items to Dead By Daylight beginning June 16. These additions are expected to include themed shirts and costumes connected to the band.
Fans can also pre-save “Play Dead” through the band’s official pre-save page at ink.iceninekills.com/playdead. While the single is being teased ahead of its wider release, the song’s music video has already premiered online. The video debuted on June 14 during a special 10th anniversary streaming event for Dead By Daylight and is now available to watch.
“Part Deux” Premiere Teased With Tony Hawk
Ice Nine Kills is also pointing fans toward a June 26 premiere date for “Part Deux.” The upcoming release is set to feature legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk, adding another notable pop-culture figure to the band’s horror-themed world.
Hawk also helped introduce the premiere of the “Play Dead” music video, further connecting the band’s latest rollout with the gaming and entertainment crossover.
Iron Maiden-Inspired Skin Revealed
During the same livestream, Dead By Daylight also revealed a new skin inspired by Eddie, the iconic mascot of Iron Maiden. The reveal marks another collaboration tied to the long-running relationship between the horror game and heavy metal culture.
With Ice Nine Kills now joining the lineup of music-related partnerships, Dead By Daylight continues to strengthen its reputation for blending horror gaming with hard rock and metal fandom.

The band was originally formed in 2000 by high school friends Spencer Charnas and Jeremy Schwartz under the name Ice Nine. At first, the project leaned toward ska punk before gradually shifting into a metalcore direction around 2010. Today, Spencer Charnas remains the only founding member still in the band.
Ice Nine Kills has released three EPs and six full-length studio albums. Their discography includes Last Chance to Make Amends, Safe Is Just a Shadow, The Predator Becomes the Prey, Every Trick in the Book, The Silver Scream, and The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood.
The band has also seen growing chart success. Every Trick in the Book reached No. 122 on the US Billboard 200, while The Silver Scream climbed to No. 29. Their most recent album, The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood, peaked at No. 18.
Ice Nine Kills’ upcoming single “Play Dead” continues the band’s strong connection to horror culture through a major collaboration with Dead By Daylight. With new in-game cosmetics, a music video premiere, a teased “Part Deux” featuring Tony Hawk, and additional links to metal icons like Iron Maiden, the band is expanding its horror-metal universe while keeping fans engaged across music, gaming, and live performances.
